Coline Clyde, 85, of Raleigh, NC, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Transitions Hospice Home in Raleigh.

Coline was born in Halifax, NC to Jessie T. and Mattie B. Ivey on May 18, 1932.  She was briefly educated in Halifax County Public Schools.  At an early age she became a member of Quankey Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC.  She relocated to Baltimore, MD in 1957 where she met and married James on October 4, 1979.  Coline worked as an assembler for the General Electric Company of Baltimore for over 20 years before retiring. She returned to live in her hometown of Roanoke Rapids in 2011 where she resided until February of this year when she relocated to Raleigh. Anyone who knew her knows that her greatest joy was playing bingo.  She traveled across the country playing bingo and visiting casinos.  Her greatest accomplishment in life was helping in the upbringing of her many nieces and nephews.  She provided a home for many of her relatives in their transition from NC to MD.

Coline is preceded in death by her husband, James Clyde, parents, Jessie and Mattie Ivey, 10 siblings, Queen Victoria Boyd, Bettie White, Arlene Howard, Mary Robinson, Dozine Alston, Ray Ivey, Willie “Tape” Ivey, Jimmie “Blunt” Ivey, Jessie “Alexander” Ivey, and Thelma Holland .

She is survived by one brother, James Ivey of Hampton, VA.

Coline never had any children of her own but she leaves to mourn one niece, Pat Adkins, who she raised to adulthood in her home and a niece, Tracey Graves-Woodard and nephew, George “Reginold” Graves, who she helped to raise and who also lived with her some in childhood.  Coline leaves a host of other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.  She leaves her surrogate grandchildren to mourn as well, (Courtney Wilburn, Jon Jacobs, Kenny Adkins, Kelli Adkins, Jamie Ross, Jamel Woodard and her brand new great grandbaby, Jordyn Leah Ross.)

The family of Coline Clyde wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors,  nurses and staff at both UNC Rex Healthcare as well as Transitions for the care given during the last days of her life.
