Hazel Jones

Mrs. Hazel Williams Jones, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 18, 2016. She was born on November 17, 1924 to the late Mr. Walter Williams and Mrs. Suzie Williams. On July 6, 1952 she married, Mr. Robert Jones, Sr. in Rock Hill, South Carolina and later gave birth to two children who have predeceased her.

During her life she was able to travel all over the world with her husband Robert as she followed his military career. After returning home to Fayetteville, North Carolina, she was an active member of the Eastern Star and furthered her Heavenly Calling as a deaconess for her beloved church, Maddock Memorial AME Zion Church.

She was a true wife, a caring mother, a loving grandmother, and an honest friend who said what she meant and meant what she said. Mrs. Jones’ legacy of love lives on within everyone blessed to have encountered her.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Rashieda Freeman of Fayetteville, North Carolina and a mass of family and friends.

Visitation and funeral will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Mattock Memorial AME Zion Church located at 444 Gillespie St. in Fayetteville. Viewing begins at 11:00 a.m. Funeral immediately follows at 12 Noon. Burial will be in the Rockfish Memorial Park.
