Phillip Warren Hise

Phillip Warren Hise, 78, of Raleigh, NC, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the SECU Hospice House-Johnston in Smithfield North Carolina.  He was born March 28, 1939, in Rochester, NY, the son of Judson and Marguerite Hise.

Phillip graduated from Williamson High School and attended SUNY Oswego.  He married Phyllis Jean Corson in 1961 who later died in 1994.   Hise started his career as an Industrial Arts teacher and worked at Coldwater Lumber Company before opening his own general contracting company.  Later, he joined the Rochester Housing Authority and became a certified asbestos inspector.  After the death of his wife, he relocated to Cary, NC and became an instructor to future building inspectors.  

Hise enjoyed making wood carvings, coaching soccer, reading, and being a grandfather. March 28, 2006, on Hise’s 67th birthday he placed his trust in Christ as Savior and Leader of his life. This decision had a significant impact on the rest of Phil’s life as he devoted a great deal of time ministering to those in hospitals and nursing homes.

He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis and his brothers John, Bruce, Ronald, and Dick.

Phil is survived by his daughter Pamela Sullivan and her husband, Justin of Savannah Georgia; son Peter Hise and his wife Jacki of Lexington, Kentucky; 2 grandsons, Corey and Carson of Lexington; and 3 granddaughters of Savannah; three brothers, James, Gary, Reginald; and 2 sisters, Roberta and Marilyn; and many nieces and nephews.

A service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 16 in Lexington, KY.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the Johnson Health Foundation which is the parent organization of the Hospice House Hise spent his final days.
