Charles James McCoy

McCoy, Charles, J, 84 of Hope Mills, NC (formerly of St. Petersburg, FL); transitioned to his heavenly home June 20, 2018. Son of the late Charles McCoy, Sr. and Annie Robinson, he is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Louise; and his daughters, Kimberly Williams (Uritha) and Kerry Williams (Eddie); three grandchildren, Kayla Williams, Arielle Williams, Kristopher; great-grandson, Anthony Brown Jr. He was a professional baseball player, and one of the first African Americans from his community to join the prestigious St. Petersburg Negro Baseball League. He worked at Bay Pines VA, and St. Petersburg College concurrently, where he retired after 30 years of service.   A service of remembrance will be held at 11am, Saturday, June 30, at the Bethel Metropolitan Baptist Church, 3455 26th Avenue S. St. Petersburg, FL 33711.
