MSG Harold Houston, US Army Retired, 73, was born on March 30, 1944 to Elizabeth Scott in Tampa, FL and raised by his Aunt Lois Cromoty. He passed away peacefully on May 22, 2017 after a long illness.
Harold Houston enlisted in the United States Army in 1974. During his extensive military career he was honored with many awards and decorations including the Army Service Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Ribbon, Senior Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Bronze Star. MSG Houston advanced his education by attending the Recruiter Career Counseling Course and the German Headstart.
MSG Houston is survived by his wife, Cheryl L. Houston, of Charlotte, NC, his daughter Mechelle McCallum of Clinton, MD, and special cousins, Clifford (Sunny) Wright, Beryl George Myles of Tampa, FL, his special angel, Bernadett Marrs Jackson, and a host of cousins and friends.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017, 12:00 PM at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery (8220 Bragg Blvd, Fort Bragg, NC)
