Roger Dean Winans

Roger Dean Winans, 55, of Sanford, North Carolina died unexpectedly and went home to be with the Lord on August 5, 2017, at Central Carolina Hospital.

He was born June 3, 1962, in Wood County, WV and attended Parkersburg South High School.  He worked in the transportation business for many years.  Roger had a big heart, he spent many years taking care of friends with disabilities.  He also loved fishing, gardening, and cooking on his smoker grill for friends and coworkers.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gary Roger Winans and his mother, Gladys R. McClung Ruddlesden, and an infant brother.

He is survived by his three sisters Paula Collins of McConnelsville, OH; Tina Beckner and husband Steve of Elizabeth, WV; Virginia R. Capps of Williamstown, WV; two stepsisters Shelia Murray and husband DJ of Parkersburg, WV; Melissa R. Burkholder and husband Robert of Broadway, NC; one brother Jonathan Winans and wife Kathy of Cameron, NC; his stepfather Donald L. Ruddlesden of Vienna, WV; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private service will be held at a later date.  Professional services entrusted to Unity Funeral Services of Fayetteville.
