Brian Odell Bowden was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on July 20, 1967; the oldest of three children born to Odell (deceased) and Miriam Bowden.  Brian was raised in a loving and close-knit family, which included his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who were as close as siblings.  Throughout his childhood and teenage years Brian was an active member of Anderson Temple Church of God In Christ.

Brian thrived in school and was also a gifted athlete, excelling in a number of sports including track and football.  Upon graduating from Westover High School in 1985, he earned a full football scholarship and continued his education at the illustrious North Carolina A&T. While at A&T Brian played on the 1986 MEAC Championship team.  During his junior year an injury ended his football career and Brian subsequently took a break from his studies. Determined to fulfill his dream of earning his degree Brian returned to A&T in 2018 and proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies in December 2019.

It was also at A&T where Brian first met Angela. Twenty-three years after their initial meeting and time at A&T as students they were reconnected. On September 29, 2012, Brian and Angela united in Holy Matrimony in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Brian loved his family deeply and selflessly, he also loved Christ. Brian was a member of Vance Street Baptist Church, Danville, VA.

Brian was a friendly and compassionate person who exhibited dignity, strength and integrity and positively touched the lives of so many. His smile was infectious, and his humor was unmatched. He loved sports and held a special place in his heart for his Westover and Aggie teammates.

In his infinite and merciful wisdom, God called Brian home on September 4, 2021. Brian’s memory will be forever cherished by is his wife, Angela McCullough Bowden, four children Marcus Williams (Bianca), Briana J. Bowden, Ayana C. Bowden and Isaac C.
