Cecelia, a native of Old Harbour, Jamaica, West Indies, was born on March 28, 1962 to the late Uriah Clarke and Myrtle Johnson as the sixth out of fourteen children. After graduating from Old Harbour High School, she later attended and obtained a certificate from a local beauty and cosmetology school to pursue a career as a hairstylist in Old Harbour, Jamaica. In September 1979, Cecelia met Eric, a newly enlisted US soldier at the time, who became the love of her life. They were married on September 10, 1983 after a long distance relationship filled with a series of letter writing and telephone calls. In her early twenties, she received salvation by water baptism in Jesus’ name and the infilling of the Holy Ghost She grew in her faith and dedicated herself through service in helps, hospitality, and a beginner’s Sunday School teacher at Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness, of the P. A. W. and later at Bethel Christian Assembly Inc. Cecelia’s career plans shifted to being a homemaker, devoted mother, and military wife after moving to Fayetteville, North Carolina in October 1984 and other locations thereafter . Her nurturing heart and love for children soon translated into employment as a child care worker and cook at several daycares throughout the city of Fayetteville. Cooking, caring for houseplants, and vegetable gardening were her most enjoyable hobbies. Her quiet strength and trust in God in adversity has been impactful to many. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Edna Thomas.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Eric Daye of Fayetteville, NC; four children, daughter, Erica (Neil) Eloise of Manassas, VA; sons, Leonard Daye of El Paso, TX; Gerald (Kayla) Daye of Charlotte NC; Joshua Daye of Fayetteville, NC; two grandsons, Emmanuel Daye and Ethan Eloise; eight brothers, Keith Blake, Hugh Clarke, Howard Clarke, Junior Clarke, Courtney Clarke, Marke Clarke, David Clarke, and Andre` Clarke; six sisters, Beverly Grant, Doreen Clarke, Dalleace Senior, Norda Clark, and Chevel Clarke; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins.
