Debra Ann O'Day

Debbie O’Day of Charlotte, N.C., passed away on Jan. 26, 2023, at the age of 61. She was born in New York on Aug. 31, 1961.

She is survived by her mother, Carol Matrose; sister, Judy (John) Higgins-Muhlsteff; of Wesley Chapel, N.C.; daughter, Mylea (Mel) O’Day-Davis, of Charlotte; and she was “Grandy” to granddaughters Aubrey Takeo, 5, and Olivia Takeo, 1; of Charlotte. Her son, Niko O’Day-Vasquez, lives in North Las Vegas, Nev.

She is also survived by a large extended family, which includes a niece and seven nephews: John Muhlsteff Jr., of Concord, N.H.; Chris (Darlene) Muhlsteff, of Waxhaw, N.C.; Robert (Veronica) Muhlsteff, of Charlotte; Derrek (Lani) Higgins, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; Clarissa (Michael) Reed, of St. Augustine, Fla; Aaron (Amelia) Higgins, of St. Augustine; Jeremy (Kersten) Higgins, of North Las Vegas; and Justin Higgins, of Charlotte.

She was the proud grand “ANT” of 13 grandnieces and grandnephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, William Matrose, and brother, Wayne (Debra) Matrose.

Her Memorial of Life celebration will be announced at a later date.
