James Glover

James Odell Glover gained his heavenly wings in the early morning on August 20, 2025. He was the son of the late Mitchell Glover, Sr., and Addie Mae Glover, born on March 11, 1954. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his siblings, JD, Pearlie Mae, Mitchell Jr., Robert, Willie Lee, and Clara.

He was a student of the Cumberland County School System. A native of the Gray’s Creek community, James (Mac) never met a stranger. He always had advice for everyone and gave top-notch supervisory skills.

James spent over 50 years of his life doing what he loved, driving the semi-18-wheeler for multiple trucking companies, including working 20 years at Diamond Chemical. He was an excellent landscaper, regularly mowing his grass to perfection, and loved watching his favorite country western, Gunsmoke. James had a nickname for everyone he encountered, whether you wanted it or not. That was his expression of love.

He was married to his soulmate, confidant, and prayer warrior, Ella Louise Maiden-Glover. For 30 years, they shared a life full of excitement.

James had seven children: Daughters, Cameen Free of Murfreesboro, NC, Tonya (Jermaine) McCall of Laurel Hill, NC, Chevonne Washington of Paterson, NJ, and Renee Glover of Olanta, SC. Sons, Adrian (Sierra) Reaves of Hope Mills, NC, Anthony (Felisa) Reaves of Fayetteville, NC, and Dion Harris of Paterson, NJ.

Also left to cherish the fun memories are a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
