With deepest sorrow, we regret to announce the passing of Mr. James Guerry Humbert Sr., 57,
“Guerry” as he was known to friends and family of Pineville, SC, who passed away from a heart
attack on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. James G. Humbert Sr., son of the late James “Jimmy” Franklin Humbert and Sylvia Humbert
Collins, was born November 13, 1963 in Chesterfield, South Carolina. Mr. James G. Humbert Sr.,
affectionately known as, “Guerry”, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 22, 2021. He was
preceded in death by: his father Jimmy and his wife Lynn.
Guerry had many passions and hobbies throughout his life. His father gave him a passion for
auto mechanics that started as a young teenager and he later became a certified welder. He
was a collector of many things and loved to browse yard sales and flea markets for collectibles
and vintage items. He gave his life to Christ as a young father and husband and carried his love
for God and his family, especially his children, throughout his life. In his last several years he
enjoyed fishing, cooking, and making walking sticks and canes from wood he gathered on
walks.
Guerry leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Sylvia of St. Stephen; his children, Kristi
(Maurice) Pressley, James G. Humbert, Jr., Adrienne Humbert, and David (Lauren) Humbert; one
sister, Valerie H. McElveen; one brother, O. Karl Humbert; his step-sisters Mary Tanner and
Karen Capps; his grand-children, Alanna, Destinee, Charitee, Isaiah, Braeden, Sarah, Jonah,
Dalton, and Carmella; and one great-grandchild Shiloh along with a host of aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will plan a private memorial service at a later time. Please send any cards or
