Linda L. Gallagher, 77, a lifelong resident of Freeport, PA, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital, Fayetteville, NC. Linda was born March 21, 1947 to Alonza F. Bishop and Dorothy Bowser Bishop. She was a 1965 graduate of Freeport High School. Linda married her husband, Ronald A. Gallagher, on April 1, 1967, and they spent virtually every day together for 57 years. Linda worked in the clerical field most of her life and retired in 2013 from her position as a secretary for the borough of Freeport.
Linda was a little lady with a big smile and a huge heart. She loved to volunteer in and around her community. In her younger years Linda could always be found alongside her husband helping with her children’s school or extracurricular activities. She also gave countless hours of time to assist with community and church events in Freeport, at VFW Post 894 in National Heights, and the parish of St. Mary’s church. Linda was especially proud of her son, Tod, and her daughter, Chauntel, and adored her three grandchildren, with whom she visited during her final days.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Terry. She is survived by her husband, Ron; her son Tod, of Freeport: her daughter, Chauntel (Shane) Summers of Bunnlevel, NC; and her grandchildren, Cami, Parker, and Kay, all of Bunnlevel. At Linda’s request, there will be no visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Freeport. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Freeport Area Library Association in Freeport, PA, or the Airborne & Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville, NC.
