Major (Ret.) Shelton Leon Melvin

Major (Retired) Shelton “Leon” Melvin, 80, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Annie Lee Melvin; wife, Margeline “Sister” Melvin; and sisters, Joyce and Wanda G. Melvin.

Leon is survived by his sons, Dr. Lamont A. Melvin (Dr. Elisa) of Columbia, SC; Senior Pastor Lamontico M. Melvin (Aisha), and Roderick R. Stocks both of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren, Austin Melvin, Isaiah Melvin (Jess), Lamontico M. Melvin, Jr., and Leila N. Melvin. Also cherishing memories of Leon are his siblings: Bessie Bates (Thomas), Betty Kornegay, James Vernon Melvin Peterson, Alonzo Melvin (Chiquita) all of Fayetteville; Vanita Boykin (Barney) of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Evelyn Melvin Pierce of Newport News, Virginia, and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation and viewing will be held on Thursday, November 17th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Positive Reinforcement Ministries located at 398 Trinity Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
Homegoing services will begin on Friday, November 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 118 Johnson Street, Fayetteville, NC followed by interment with military honors at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
