Neil Archie McDougald, 72, departed his life on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Neil was born on April 1, 1952, in Fayetteville, NC to the late James and Elizabeth McDougald. He received his spiritual guidance and teachings at an early age from Second Baptist Church on Wilmington Road.
Neil graduated from E. E. Smith Senior High School in 1970. While attending high school, he played cornerback for the Golden Bulls football team and at one point was a member of the band. After high school, he attended the School of Dental Technology in Atlanta, GA. Upon completing his studies in Georgia, he decided to return home.
Neil worked as a truck driver for many years with Fayetteville Builders Supply Company and was also employed as a steel worker with Hercules Steel Company.
Neil loved to read and didn’t matter whether it was the encyclopedia or the dictionary. He cherished learning.
He was blessed with one son, Kori Chevelle McDougald whom he loved and adored.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth McDougald; his sister, Linda Faye McDougald Blue; and his nephew, Anthony McDougald.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Kori McDougald (Taneasha) of New Orleans, LA; his brother, Jerome McDougald of Burlington, NC; two grandchildren, Kori McDougald, II and Rene Bradford of New Orleans, LA; and two great grandchildren, Santana Rene Bradford and Riley Santee, both of New Orleans, LA; and a host of relative and friends.
