Richard Thomas Mitchell

Richard Thomas Mitchell, 89, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022.  Funeral, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022, Unity Chapel at Cliffdale, 1037 71st School Road, Fayetteville.

Richard Thomas Mitchell was born on December 18, 1932. to Taft Andrew Mitchell and Lutterloh Montgomery Mitchell in Hallsboro, North Carolina.  He was the third oldest of eleven children to survive.  He was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers (Steadman Mitchell and James Mitchell), and a sister (Gladys Mitchell), Odessa Gore, Vera Frank, Viola Smith, and Maryann Harley.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Fuller Mitchell; three sons, Richard Thomas Mitchell, Jr., James Taft Mitchell, and Tyrone Staples (Jackie); ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Yvonne Frink of Bowie, MD, and Helen (Benjamin) Duhart of White Hall, Arkansas; one brother, William Mitchell of Upper Marlboro, MD; two brothers-in-law, Benjamin Duhart of White Hall, Arkansas and Lewis Frink of Clinton, Maryland; cousins, Fuller "Buddy" Mitchell (Bonnie) of Whiteville, NC, Sylvia Henry (Roy) of Whiteville, NC, Sandra Robinson (Gerald) of Hallsboro, NC, and Jesse Mae "Cookie" Mitchell of Whiteville, NC.
