Rochelle Nicole Washington best known by family as Roe or Rody was born September 7, 1969, in Sanford, NC. Rochelle attended Cumberland County Public School Systems graduating high school from Seventy-First High. She then went on to attend Bronx Community College for a year, later graduating from Fayetteville State University, Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Sociology. Rochelle spent 18 years of her professional career working for Air Gas at both the Fayetteville, NC and Kennesaw, GA locations.
Rochelle was a woman of integrity and high moral standards. She valued her family and was there for anyone who needed her. She was a true Woman of God with unwavering faith, despite her battle with Cancer. She never lost her joy; she never lost her praise and she remained steadfast until the end.
To cherish her memories, she leaves: her son, Zion Atkinson of Raeford. Her grandson, Keelan Atkinson of Fayetteville. Her father, Earl Washington (Bonus Mom, Sandra Faye Thompson) of Cameron. Her mother, Judy Best of Raeford. Her sister, Terri Martin (Niece, Gabbi Pitti) of Charlotte. Her brother Jason Washington (Niece, Tajai Washington) of New York and her bonus sister/cousin, Lakisha Jackson-Gaunt of Fayetteville. Rochelle has a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews and Friends who will also miss her dearly.
The family would like to Thank You for all of the Calls, Text Messages, Kind Words and Prayers. Please keep us in your highest thoughts as we transition into life without Rochelle.
