Ruth Williams, a beloved wife, mother, and community fixture, passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 85 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Born on December 30, 1940, in the small town of Stoneville, Mississippi in Washington County, Ruth was the daughter of Elmer Clark and Mary Lee Anderson Clark. From her earliest years, she carried herself with a determination that would define every chapter of her life.
Ruth pursued her education and developed a deep passion for the beauty industry, going on to establish herself as an Owner and Operator of a Cosmetology business. For decades, she poured her talent, creativity, and care into her craft — not just styling hair but lifting spirits and building genuine relationships with every client who sat in her chair. To those she served, she was more than a cosmetologist; she was a confidante, an encourager, and a constant source of conversation.
She was the devoted wife of the late Charles Williams, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. In her later years, Ruth made her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she continued to be surrounded by those who loved her most.
Ruth was preceded in death by her oldest son, Sherwin Daniels.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: Patricia Daniel, Janique Williams, Mark Williams, and Reginald Williams (Tarrah), along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family members, church family, and many dear friends whose lives she touched in immeasurable ways.
Ruth Williams was many things — bold, unfiltered, and unyielding — and she wouldn't have had it any other way. Her moments of tenderness were genuine gifts, given when she meant them most. She created beauty everywhere she went, shaped lives with her strong spirit, and left a mark on every heart brave enough to truly know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
