Willie Jean (Jelks) Freeman

Willie Jene Freeman was born on April 9, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Willie S. Jelks and Sallie Mae Jelks. Willie found solace and strength in the Lord even during her weakest hours. She was a member of Mt. Olive Church of God until her health started to fail.

Willie was preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves to cherish her love and legacy: her husband, Benny T. Freeman of the home; her children, Rashin Jelks of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Odessa Stroud of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Ronald Stroud (Shaquelia) of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Lamont Roberts of Los Angeles, California; she was a loving grandmother to ten grandchildren and a great grandmother to three; one sister, Tanya Jelks of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one brother, Ernie Jelks of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; a special sister-in-law, Willer McLean of Fayetteville, North Carolina, whom Willie would always call “My Baby”; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, family and friends.

Her passion, without a doubt, was cooking, dressing, and being with family.
