Sunya B. Webster

August 31, 1963 ~ January 24, 2016 (age 52) 52 Years Old

“For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

Sunya Joyce Webster transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Sunya was born on August 31, 1963 to the parentage of Millard Patton and Ernestine Brown.

Sunya was educated in the Mounds Illinois School System and graduated from Meridian High School in 1981. During her school years, she was active in sports activities to include the basketball and track teams. She also participated in her high school Student Council. After graduation, Sunya enlisted in the Military and served in the Army for two years.  In October 2011, she proudly graduated from Ashford University with an associate degree in Early Childhood Education.

Sunya was initially employed by Cumberland County School System, Fayetteville, N.C. as a Prime Time Associate for a few years. In August 1994, she was again hired by Cumberland County Schools as a Teacher Assistant/Bus Driver at Montclair Elementary School where she continued to work until her death. She also continued to work part-time at McDonalds Restaurant as a crew member.

On Easter Sunday, March 30, 1986, Sunya married the love of her life Stanley Webster in Dillon, South Carolina. To this union two sons were born: Shevis Charles Webster and Shemar O’Neal Webster. Sunya was a devoted wife and loving mother; she created a loving home, met many loyal friends and created life-long memories.

She will be long remembered for her sunny disposition, her ever-present smile, resounding laughter and nurturing nature toward her students.

She was preceded in death by her father, Millard Patton; her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Those left to cherish her memory include: her husband, Stanley Webster; her sons, Shevis and Shemar Webster; her mother, Ernestine Brown; sisters, Sharon Brown, Janice Brown-Dillard (Richard); brother, Deric Brown; a special cousin, Sheree Strickland; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; a special friend, Regina Bogan-Campbell; many co-workers and a host of friends.
